Blazers mind games begin

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Its on now, other teams should be ready for the Pritchslap. He is ready to fleece your team.

Did I mention its DRAFT NIGHT!!! The most exciting time of the year for me, especially since we have the best GM in the game. I have never seen more rumors surrounding one team, and that means Kevin Pritchard’s mind games have begun.

Their are about 12 different trade rumors going on right now that some how factor in the Blazers. Its ridiculous to even try to keep up. I expect to be “Shocked & Awed” by what happens tonight with the Blazers.

The newest rumor has been surrounding New Jersey giving up their number 10 spot to the Blazers. Here is a quote from this mornings podcast from the Blazers beat writer Jason Quick.

“The Portland Trail Blazers have intensified discussions with the New Jersey Nets about moving up into the 10th pick of the NBA draft with intentions of taking Texas point guard D.J. Augustin.

The Blazers would send the 13th and 33rd picks in Thursday’s draft, along with guard Jarrett Jack, to the Nets. New Jersey also would send guard Trenton Hassell to the Blazers.”

Now thats big stuff happening their. I think we might trade the pick, but it’s crazy to think about. We are trading our 13 pick, plus 33rd, and we are dropping Jack. We all want him gone, but then we will have the 10th pick, and the 27th from New Orleans. How the f*ck does KP do that ?

I honestly think we wont pick D.J. Augustin, we will trade all of our picks away for either a higher pick, or trade for some real serious.

I was glancing over at Hoophype.com and almost every other rumor surrounds the Blazers. It’s insane. The David Lee trade has me excited as well.

According to executives with two teams, the Knicks are discussing a swap of first-round picks with Portland. The Knicks would send the No. 6 pick, forward David Lee and another player to the Trail Blazers for the 13th and 27th picks and a player, possibly Steve Blake or Jarrett Jack. (Portland is acquiring the 27th pick from New Orleans.)”

I love David Lee’s style of play, he is a furious slasher and likes to play the up tempo game, thats why I dont see it happening since D’Antoni is their now.

Other trades are surrounding Jermaine Oneal, TJ Ford, and a slue of other trades.

Kevin Pritchard is a god. He pisses off all the old school GM’s but he gets the job done. He is aggressive and wants a championship probably more then some of the players.

Kevin Pritchars is hands down the best GM in the game. (If we exclude Danny Ainge)

I have never seen anything like it. I am betting we see another draft trade record this year with the Blazers.

Every player in the league should just start packing their bags around draft time, because KP signed a deal with the devil and he is coming for you!

Taurean Green Traded For A Dude Named Von Wafer

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

The Portland Trail Blazers acquired guard Von Wafer from the Denver Nuggets in exchange for guard Taurean Green, it was announced today by general manager Kevin Pritchard.

Wafer, 22, posted averages of 1.3 points, 0.5 rebounds, 0.2 assists and 4.3 minutes in 21 games this season for the Nuggets.

“We want to thank Taurean Green and wish him all the best for the future, which I think will be a bright one in this league,” said Pritchard. “We had a positional need to fill with some of the injuries we’re having to endure and with Von Wafer we think we’re getting a player who can provide us with some offensive firepower.”

A third-year pro out of Florida State, Wafer was originally selected in the second round (39th pick overall) by the L.A. Lakers in the 2005 NBA Draft. During 38 career games with the Lakers, Clippers and Nuggets, he averaged 1.2 points, 0.5 rebounds, 0.2 assists and 4.3 minutes.

Green, 21, was selected by the Trail Blazers in the second round of the 2008 NBA Draft (52nd pick overall) out of Florida. In eight games with the Trail Blazers this season, he averaged 2.1 points, 0.5 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 5.5 minutes.

Now on to the good stuff. This is a horrible trade in my mind. Taurean Green never got a chance to prove himself. He led the National Championship team Florida Gators last year in points, and he is a spark plug. He did great in the D-League and summer league. The guy never got a chance to play. I understand that the Blazers do have to many PG’s but what is the point of this trade? I see no gains. Granted the Blazers are thinking that this guy can be developed like Trout, but I honestly cannot say anything about Von Wafer, other then his name is cool.

Taurean was a town favorite, maybe because he was goofy, and he seemed like a stand up guy.  But for some reason this trade actually bothers me, and upsets me. I cant put my finger on it, but it does.

So here is Von Wafer. I know what you are all thinking, he is not white. But with a name like that you would think so. But none the less I welcome him aboard. It has been heard though that he has a good shot, and has springs. He as well did great in the D-League. So this is a “meh” trade for me.

BLOCKED !!!!

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

JKidd has just been picked and blocked by a “B Team” forward. Things just hit the fan.  Devean George has control of his contract and he can veto the trade if he does not like how it will turn out.

“After Dallas beat Portland on Wednesday night, Mavs coach Avery Johnson said there was “zero” chance the deal would get done, but added that was “as of now.”

George then said there’s still a chance things can be worked out. He was waiting to meet with his agent, Mark Bartelstein, to discuss their options.

“We’re not trying to hold things up or be difficult, but just like teams make tough decisions all the time — about cutting players or making trades — they do what’s best for their team, and it’s my obligation to do what’s best for Devean,” Bartelstein said during the game. “You don’t want to stop teams from doing their business, but we don’t feel like it makes sense at this time.”

Whether this is a setback or a deal-breaker will be determined in the coming days. The trade deadline is the afternoon of Feb. 21″

The Nets want expiring contracts so they can free up the cash flow in the next coming years, and the thing is the Mavs really have no one else to put up with a small expiring contract. So that means two things. Both the Mavs and Nets are going to have to put up more players from both sides so that the cash flow is allocated correctly, and that the contracts some what match. The second would just be a death to this trade.

In my opinion I think this will still happen no matter what. Cuban wants him bad, he wants a ring bad. To me it is a bad business move on his part. He wants instant gratification, instead of being patient. But I understand his urgency; Dirk is not getting any younger so if they want to get the most out of him they need to put players around him that match his skill level, no matter the age.

Ill say it now, THIS TRADE WILL HAPPEN.  Devean George is using this to his advantage that all this is, it’s a bargaining chip. He is doing this because he wants, and needs to get more out of this for himself.

Big Baby Ben is going to New York, Noah excited!

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

Well it looks like the Bulls are ready to move a whiny Ben Wallace before the trade deadline. The under achieving center has once again flexed his  crybaby muscle. Big Baby Ben says he expects to be departing Chicago O’hare any day now for JFK. The deal would go like this; Ben Wallace to the Knicks in return to for Quentin Richardson, Malik Rose, and Fred Jones. In my opinion it does nothing for any team as a whole. But it does do something for certain individuals on the Bulls. This opens up Ben Wallace’s spot and playing time to Joakim Noah. Who in my opinion should have gone higher in the draft, and he should really be starting anyway. The kid can play, and he has shown some great potential in the playing time he has already received.

I expect big things from him. I think Wallace has been the one leading factor in the turmoil of the Bulls. He does not care anymore, he has his contract, he has his afro and thats all he needs, and maybe a little HGH and a bowflex. But I kid. The guy is a hard worker, he just does not care for the team anymore.

Instead of running his mouth though he should be working on his offense, his free throws, and maybe try to get a defensive title again. I know he can do it, he use to be a threat on defense, a monster if the paint, but now he has his mind set on one thing, getting out of Chicago!
